Horst Construction Completes Garden Spot Village's Gardens South Just in Time for Spring

March 30, 1999 (New Holland, Pennsylvania) Horst Construction joins Garden Spot Village in their celebration of the successful completion of the new Gardens South Apartment Wing at Garden Spot Village Retirement Community. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at the New Holland retirement community at 10am, Friday, March 31, 2000, to celebrate its completion. The new five-story building addition adds 81,659 square feet, offering an additional 61 resident apartment suites. Final touches are in progress on a 9,566 square foot cafe dining addition and renovation that will be in service to welcome the new residents.

The Gardens South project began in March 1999, and is valued at approximately five million dollars. The project’s completion marks the conclusion of "Phase I" of the project, providing a total of 159 resident and 28 assisted-living apartments. Situated on 104 acres, Garden Spot Village also offers 158 cottages within the retirement community.

The Horst Construction team was led by project manager Bryan Frantz and superintendent Curvin Hoover who conveyed that they were extremely pleased with the teamwork of Garden Spot personnel, design professionals and each subcontractor associated with this project’s successful completion. The high quality workmanship and design provided by skilled craftsmen and professionals have culminated in a beautiful facility. Horst Property Management Janitorial and Horst Excavating are other Horst Group companies who joined the team of subcontractors, successfully completing this

stage of the construction. Beers, Schillaci & Hoffman, Ltd., Architects provided an appealing, functional design that will be well suited to the residents’ needs.

Horst Construction also successfully completed another project, the Gardens West addition, for Garden Spot Village in March 1998. Currently, Garden Spot Village and the Horst Group eagerly anticipate the groundbreaking of another building project. Plans are underway for "Phase II" construction which will include a skilled care nursing facility within the retirement community to begin this spring.

Garden Spot marketing director Bonnie Gerig says that "It has been a joy working with the Horst Construction team," and that "Everyone is thankful that their prayers for safety on the site were answered." Gerig also announced the exciting news that, as of the ribbon cutting, all 61 Gardens South apartments have been filled and residents are eager to move to the community.
