The Horst Group traces its roots back five generations – to the late 1800s – when Joseph Horst built Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church in Terre Hill, Pennsylvania. Horst’s son, William, later joined the family construction business. By the time the third generation, Abe, joined the business in 1934, the Horst name was known for quality craftsmanship and honoring its “handshake” commitments. Abe Jr. joined the family business in 1952. His brother, Clyde, joined the family business in 1957. During the past 30 years, Horst Construction has completed a new church approximately every 60 days. From a small rural church to a 2,700-seat sanctuary, Horst is a regional construction leader. Horst’s fifth generation, Randall, joined the construction company in 1983. Today, Horst services include construction, excavating, masonry, painting and architectural design. And while Horst’s name is synonymous with churches, these services are working in diverse industries throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

In 1969, the Horst family added property management services to its successful construction company. Founded originally as a company to serve residential, commercial and industrial properties, it quickly grew to other areas like hospitality, senior care and condominiums. Today, Horst manages properties and provides maintenance and cleaning services.

Horst acquired its first insurance agency in 1981 – an agency that began in 1917. Today, after several more acquisitions, it is a leading South Central and Eastern Pennsylvania independent insurance agency with commercial and personal insurance, employee group benefits and wholesale insurance brokerage.

From one man building a small church in the late 1800s to many talented men and women serving three core businesses, the Horst Group remains passionate about doing the right things – the right way.
